Peshawar is the capital of the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its largest city.It is commonly known as ``City of flowers`` in all over the world.It is the sixth-largest city in Pakistan and the largest Pashtun-majority city in the country.Peshawar's recorded history dates back to at least 539 BCE, making it the oldest city in Pakistan and one of the oldest cities in South Asia. It is also a cultural and economic hub of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The city is famous for its food and tourism as it is one of the oldest cities of Pakistan.Peshawar emerged as a centre for both Hindko and Pashtun intellectuals during the British era. Hindko speakers, also referred to as Khaarian (``city dwellers`` in Pashto), were responsible for the dominant culture for most of the time that Peshawar was under British rule.
